Fuel Saving Tips

By Vanatic posted Mar 31st 2010 at 11:18 AM

We can always stand to get a bit more out of each gallon.

Try using these tips.

1. Slow down

One of the best ways to save gas is to simply reduce your speed. As speed increases, fuel economy decreases exponentially.

2. Check your tire pressure

Under-inflated tires are one of the most commonly ignored causes of bad MPG. Tires lose air over time (about 1 psi per month) and due to temperature (1 psi for every 10 degrees); under-inflated tires have more rolling resistance, which means you need to burn more fuel to keep your vehicle moving.

3. Check your air filter

A dirty air filter restricts the flow of air into the engine, which harms performance and economy. Air filters are easy to check and change; remove the filter and hold it up to the sun. If you can’t see light coming through it, you need a new one.

4. Accelerate with care

Race starts are an obvious fuel-waster — but that doesn’t mean you should crawl away from every light. If you drive an automatic, accelerate moderately so the transmission can shift up into the higher gears. Stick-shifters should shift early to keep the revs down, but don’t lug the engine — downshift if you need to accelerate

5. Hang with the trucks

Ever notice how, in bad traffic jams, cars seem to constantly speed up and slow down, while trucks tend to roll along at the same leisurely pace? A constant speed keeps shifting to a minimim

By Vanatic posted Mar 29th 2010 at 10:20 AM

You know some times its the little things in life that really make you happy. I downloaded this desktop calendar and I though ok, sounds good, why not?

But I then found out to my surprise that it shows the Sprinter from different angles! Yeah, it rotates, its cool.

My first van!

By Stoowit posted Mar 26th 2010 at 6:52 AM

Hey all!

I need a van thats big enough to carry entertainment equipment and sleep three people!

Big ask? I think I may have to customise it myself but wondered if anyone had seen anything out there already done?

Would love a motorhome but not sure if it would carry all my equipment too.

Any comments would be well recieved!

Cheers

Stoowit

By Vanatic posted Mar 22nd 2010 at 11:09 AM

We here at myvan are a forward looking bunch, this is why we send a lot of time thinking about the vehicles of today mixed with the drive technology of the future.

But how does it all work and more importantly how can a layperson understand all that techno jargon?

Well, take a look at this fuel cell program
