The water-filled pit is up to 15 meters deep. Yet this is where the industrial divers from DCN DIVING clean walls, extend 2300 pillars, lay 300 grids and pour concrete. Visibility is almost zero, the schedule extremely tight. The divers work around the clock in two shifts. Teams of 3 work together, with each diver spending around 90 minutes under water.
They also need specially modified Sprinters, which they use as diving support vehicles. In addition to the diving gear and equipment, the van also has a low-pressure compressor on board to supply the divers directly with air.
Their current project is the new market hall in Rotterdam. It will become one of the city’s major landmarks. This prestige project costs 150 million euros. Up to 30 professional divers work to complete the foundation on time. A critical milestone for the construction site.
