Páll Halldór Halldórsson bought his Sprinter four years ago to convert it into an all-terrain vehicle. It took him the whole winter. After all, there were a few problems to overcome, for example, suddenly the control unit did not work anymore.
Together with a friend, he changed almost the entire substructure of the Sprinter: Huge tires, new axles, new shocks, custom-designed fenders and more. Páll had the idea for the conversion about ten years ago. At that time he drove a nearly five-ton Ford. But Páll wanted a lighter vehicle that ran better on snow. And so he opted for the much lighter Sprinter with 3.2 tons. This decision had another positive side effect: While the Ford consumed 35 liters of fuel, the Sprinter needs just 17 liters.
