German Team Travels in Vito E-CELL

Danzig is the sixth largest city in Poland, is located on the Baltic Sea, possesses a large port and is also where the German national football team is based for the 2012 European Championship. At the luxurious headquarters the professionals receive perfect care and support on their long journey toward the title. The captain, Philip Lahm and the team travel short distances such as from the hotel to the airport, to press conferences or the training grounds using safe, comfortable and, above all, environmentally friendly transport.

The national players are chauffeured in a Vito E-CELL, the first purely electric personnel transport vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. With a range of approximately 130 km it is perfectly suited to serve as a shuttle for Germany’s best football players. It can transport up to 7 players at a time. And they were enthusiastic about Daimler’s almost noiseless electric motor.

Nor do the aspirants to the title have to make any compromises when it comes to safety. The batteries are protected by a crash element and the high-voltage technology is automatically disabled when the airbags are triggered. The Vito E-CELL has already provided impressive proof of its highest safety standards in crash tests. So that Lahm & Co. remain “live wires” precisely where they should: on the football field. The city hosting the team’s headquarters also profits from the innovative electric van. The emission-free local transport keeps Danzig’s bay area completely free of exhaust gas caused by the German team.
