3 years ago Clare Brookes and Michelle Orton had an unusual business idea. What was that? To provide a funeral in style with their armada of white aircooled VW vans.

Many of you might think of this business idea as somewhat strange. But I am sure that just as many of you think of it as a very good idea.

Honestly, I must admit in times like these, where your dog can visit a hairdresser, or things such as the congestion charge. Why not a funeral in style?

But enough of the talking. Let me present you ‘Hearseby’, the squad of volkswagen funerals.

Van swapping

Swapped my Sprinter with a friend this weekend because he needed to move some larger items, got his Vito in return. I must say I’m pleasantly surprised!

Crafter Stats.

Launched on to the market in 2006, the Volkswagen Crafter is the largest of the VW vans. This 3 to 5 tonner replaced the old LT ( ah a sigh of nostalgia). It’s built in Düsseldorf, Germany in conjunction with Daimler sharing the body with the Mercedes Sprinter. crafter It has naturally the engine and trans from VW.

Wheelbase     SWB: 3,250 mm (128.0 in)
MWB: 3,665 mm (144.3 in)
LWB: 4,325 mm (170.3 in)

Engine(s)     2.5 L I5 TDI turbo diesel with DPF
Transmission(s)     6-speed manual,
6-speed Shiftmatic automatic
