Good luck: a chimney sweep in the Citan.

Mercedes-Benz Citan is the workhorse for a chimney sweep

In the Lower Franconian town of Iphofen, Michael Hügel happily climbs onto his customers' roofs – he is living the traditional chimney sweep vocation. His economical Citan keeps him mobile.

Chimney sweeper – a profession with many sides.

Chimney sweeper, stiff broom, exhaust gas analyzer – and naturally the elegant black top hat. When Michael Hügel packs his bags for the day at 6 o’clock in the morning he has to include everything he needs. The regional chimney sweep from Rottendorf near Würzburg visits around 20 households every day in his area in Iphofen in Lower Franconia – bringing good luck. “When people still used wood and coal for heating, highly flammable soot used to build up in the chimneys. Because the houses were built so close together, one chimney fire could easily destroy whole streets. When the chimney sweep removed the soot there were fewer fires. That is why it is supposed to be lucky to touch the chimney sweep”, explains Hügel. In addition to cleaning the chimneys, his tasks also include measuring the emissions of heating systems and fireplaces and providing advice about energy efficiency and climate protection.

The Mercedes-Benz Citan: a profitable assistant.

Michael Hügel serves as a role model when it comes to climate protection – he drives a Citan. “The vehicle is very economical and cost-effective to maintain thanks to the long maintenance intervals. It plays a major role in my day-to-day work. The Citan’s striking look and sporty appearance mean my customers recognize me immediately”, says the master chimney sweep. Hügel’s Citan is a reliable workhorse. In addition to the low operating costs, Michael Hügel values the solid partition between the passenger compartment and the cargo area. “In the Citan I no longer have to transport my sensitive measuring equipment together with my dirty chimney sweeping tools. The partition behind the driver’s seat protects them against the soot – they are safe in the front with me.”

No fear of heights: no roof is too steep for the master chimney sweep Hügel.
