Cash in the Sprinter: keeping the bank mobile.

Transport action: a Spanish company sends the Sprinter 519 CDI on a long trip through many small villages. So what's all this got to do with Christopher Columbus?

A modern explorer.

Miguel Revuelta doesn’t like to be compared with Christopher Columbus. But both are explorers in terms of trade and stand for a Spanish drive to conquest, paid for in hard cash. Naturally, Señor Revuelta cannot stand up to a comparison with the legendary sailor. And yet both of them, in their own way, have changed Spanish trading routes. On his search for a trading route to India, Columbus accidentally discovered America. That has remained a dream for Miguel Revuelta. But he too is a discoverer.

The loading area of his Sprinter has been converted to contain everything that’s necessary for a working-day in a bank.

Reliability and security.

Revuelta works for the Spanish company “Alegria Activity”. One of their competences is the production of very special vehicles. Alegria Activity has built modern broadcasting vans for the TV broadcasting company Sky Italia, mobile schoolrooms in Ecuador and the team bus for a professional cycling team. For quite some years, Revuelta’s employer sends mobile banks into the country’s remote towns and villages. Like this green and white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 519 CDI, which the makers chose carefully. “Particularly in reputable areas such as finance, we swear by vehicles by Mercedes-Benz. In Spain, the brand stands for reliability and security. The Sprinter is the ideal model for our purposes: big enough to transport the incredibly heavy equipment of a mobile bank and agile enough to access even the smallest mountain villages.”

A success outside of Spain, too.

As a result of the Spanish financial crisis, a lot of banks were closed. To avoid losing contact with their customers in the countryside, many banks opted for the moving office. Alarm system and video-monitoring are integrated and the bank clerk is accompanied by a security guard as an additional safety measure. The secure bank in the Sprinter is an export hit! Currently these vehicles are also out and about in Burkina Faso. Even Columbus didn’t get that far.
