Touch the sky with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4.

Red Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in front of a cloudy mountain

Lisi & Friedl take you to the Austrian mountains with their Mercedes-Benz all-terrain Sprinter. Great for hiking in Summer and skiing in Winter. And finding peace all year round.

A panoramic view on the mountains without breaking a sweat.

On a narrow mountain path cluttered with shingles and pebbles, a bright red van makes its way up the imposing Austrian Arlberg range. A tree trunk lying on the path is hardly an obstacle – the van’s driver is well-experienced and knows there is only one way: up. Offering different tours and trips through the Austrian mountainside, Lisi & Friedl Touristik can drive you to the most remote places with their fleet of ten Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4. All you need to do is enjoy the view. The Austrian couple and their team make sure their driving style is adapted to the road and entertain the passengers with facts about their beloved region. In Summer like in Winter, by day or by night, Lisi & Friedl Touristik’s aim is to make your journey an experience. Built-in heating and air conditioning, extra-isolated panoramic windows, added lights to illuminate the van’s surroundings by night… The Sprinter are optimized and ready to welcome you, your dog, your backpacks, your sports-gear, food supplies for several weeks and off you go to explore the wonderful Austrian landscape.

In 25 years, Lisi & Friedl Touristik have used out no less than 35 vans. That tells us some about how exigent the mountainside can be.

2,800 meters closer to the sky with the “Nenzing Ascension”.

“The Nenzing Ascension is a must-see”, says Friedl. Close to the borders of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the attraction is located at the heart of the Arlberg mountain range between Vorarlberg and Tyrol. The region is popular for its majestic landscape with imposing mountains and vast valleys. A ride with a Sprinter 4×4 can take you up to 2,800 meters high in the mountainside. Lisi & Friedl’s privilege: they were granted the exclusive right to drive through a private valley normally closed to the public. “The nature and landscape are so unique because no other vehicle is allowed to drive there”, explains Friedl. No better place then to enjoy breath-taking views far from mass tourism. And it is no coincidence that only his team is allowed to drive there: the roads are so impracticable that only all-terrain vehicles can make it.

Out of all the vehicle we tried, the Sprinter is the only one that could endure the daily challenges of weight and our customized configuration.

Lisi & Friedl’s job requires driving up steep slopes, wild dirt roads and finding new ways when the rain has created a landslide.

Only the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter could make it.

Sprinter 4×4 may not be the only ones able to drive up mountains, but they are the only ones that can take up to twenty-people groups and their stuff so high in the valley. The space and strength of the vehicle convinced the team. Whether on regular roads or mountain roads, the vans stay comfortable by easily switching from a two-wheel drive to a four-wheel drive. Extra low gears help the vans cope with opposing traffic by enabling the drivers to keep the vehicle running at very low speed. Lisi & Friedl took up the challenge of taking more people to preserved places while still making it an exclusive experience. And they are definitely successful.

See you soon, for a ride to the sky (Nenzing Ascension) in the Austrian landscape.

Backpacks, food supplies, skis… There will be enough space, in or out of the vans.

3 reasons why Lisi & Friedl chose the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter over other transporters.

It is spacious: backpacks, sports equipment, dogs and food supplies fit in the 8, 13 or 20-seater vans
It is narrow: Lisi & Friedl’s vans are very long, but still the right width to make it through the narrow hillside roads
It is reliable: the Sprinter are challenged everyday with heavy equipment, steep slopes and moody weather conditions. “We tried to customize other vehicles, but they all got destroyed”, says Friedl, Founder of Lisi & Friedl Touristik
