After the eVito, the eSprinter is the next Mercedes-Benz van with battery electric drive. Various adaptation options make it a real alternative for urban use.

Familiar parameters are retained.

2019 is the year of the first battery-powered Sprinter. It marks the next step in the grand plan to electrify the commercial models of Mercedes-Benz Vans. Initially, the vehicle will be available as a panel van with a high roof and a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kilograms. Otherwise, much will remain the same as before. As with its combustion engine counterpart, the maximum load volume is 10.5 cubic meters. Whether as a rolling workshop or a spacious delivery van, the eSprinter can also be used in a variety of ways and integrated into everyday operations without any problems.

Choice between range and payload.

An important criterion for deciding in favour of a vehicle with electric battery drive is striking a balance between range und payload: More range means less payload and less range means more payload. Therefore, users can choose between two offers. With a battery capacity of 55 kWh, the eSprinter reaches a total range of approx. 150 kilometres*. In this case, the maximum payload is up to 900 kilograms. A battery capacity of 44 kWh, on the other hand, allows for a range of up to 115 kilometres*. The maximum payload can then be increased by around 140 kilograms to approx. 1,040 kilograms.

Even more customization options.

The driving force of the eSprinter is adapted to its intended use. Like the entry-level diesel engine, the electric drive delivers 85 kW with a torque of up to 300 Newton meters. It is advisable to configure the maximum speed to either 80, 100 or 120 km/h according to the respective requirements. The important energy recovery system can also be designed flexibly. Various modes regulate the saving of the energy generated during braking. Optimal settings can thus be made by using the shift pedals on the steering wheel.

The eDrive@VANs strategy.

The eSprinter is an integral part of the eDrive@VANs strategy. Essential points of the service: Advice on vehicle selection, support with new tools and consideration of total operating costs. The analysis of the organizational and technical conditions at the respective location can also be decisive for potential users of the van. In this way, the prerequisites are to be created to conserve resources with a commercial vehicle fleet and to remain economically competitive.

Emission-free mobility for long journeys: the Concept Sprinter F-CELL.

The Concept Sprinter F-CELL uses a semi-integrated motorhome as an example to show the entire range of advantages of the fuel cell – from long range to local emission-free mobility.

  1. The Concept Sprinter F-CELL is suitable for longer courier journeys or operation in interurban areas.
  2. It combines fuel cell and battery technology to form a plug-in hybrid.
  3. It achieves an output of around 147 kW and a torque of 350 Newton meters.
  4. Three tanks in the van’s substructure store a total of 4.5 kilograms of hydrogen.
  5. A range of around 300 kilometers can thus be achieved.
