The Munich start-up company tiramizoo has set out to do nothing less than revolutionise the courier business. “Same day delivery” is the magic phrase – goods ordered online are delivered to the customer the same day, either at the requested time or within 90 minutes. Since mid-2012, Daimler AG has held a minority stake in the fledgling Munich-based company and the support it provides includes vehicles from the Daimler fleet.
Receiving goods on the same day they are ordered is an enticing prospect for many customers. The system from tiramizoo has now made this possible. This gives customers the convenience of being able to take receipt of goods within just 90 minutes of ordering them online or at a time of their choosing. Orders are increasingly passed on to courier firms with the help of an application specially developed by tiramizoo. In the future, the system will use satellite navigation to locate the ideal courier in the vicinity and relay the delivery order fully automatically.
Alongside tiramizoo’s technical development, the “Same Day Delivery 2.0 – the local logistics of the future” short film illustrates the interaction between the apps from tiramizoo and modern vehicles belonging to the Daimler fleet. This increasingly addresses online customers’ demand for rapid and reliable local delivery. In addition, the growing list of online shops in cities offering tiramizoo delivery demonstrates that this future has already become a reality in many areas.
tiramizoo can already be used in 12 German cities, including Hamburg, Munich, Berlin and Stuttgart. If the goods are available locally, then notebooks and electronic accessories purchased on the websites notebooksbilliger.de or conrad.de, for example, can be delivered on the same day. The fashion stores luxodo.de and lodenfrey.de as well as the book shops Thalia and Hugendubel also offer the service from tiramizoo.
The strategic partnership between tiramizoo and Daimler AG furthers the intelligent networking of mobility in urban areas. In addition, tiramizoo’s system will also optimise future transport capacities. This will increase the efficiency of courier runs, thus reducing the amount of traffic. As such, optimising the delivery routes also provides environmental benefits. The first Mercedes-Benz tiramizoo vehicle took to the roads last week. A Vito EFFEKT 116 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY has begun operating in Munich. MYVAN.com was on location with a camera and accompanied a tiramizoo courier for an entire day. Our report of the experience will appear on MYVAN.com in the next few weeks. We look forward to your next visit and to receiving your comments and feedback on this topic.
