A Sprinter 4×4 equipped for every job

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 on the way to the top.

Unimaginable even a few years ago: a van in the desert, in the forest or even in the snowy Alps. The Sprinter 4×4 is a true pioneer.

The famous all-wheel drive all-rounder

The Sprinter 4×4 has been causing a sensation since it was launched. It has quite literally gone where no other van has gone before. It stands above the broad mass of vans because of more than just its raised suspension. Mercedes-Benz took a risk when it initially developed an all-wheel drive van – would this exotic vehicle find its niche? Success has proven the all-rounder has earned his place. Today, the Sprinter 4×4 is responsible for the jobs that were once done by either all-terrain vehicles with trailers or could not be done at all. A shuttle bus in the Alps, a rally vehicle in the desert or a mobile dog kennel in the polar circle. Space, effectiveness and unlimited flexibility are the promises kept by the star on the radiator grille.

Directly from the factory or from off-road specialists

Mercedes-Benz equips the Sprinter 4×4 with all-wheel drive as a standard feature. The 4×4 variant can be ordered with a wheelbase above 3,665 millimetres. Depending on the engine, the payload of the Sprinter 4×4 can be increased to five tonnes. Gear reduction can also be added in addition to the activatable all-wheel drive mode. When needed, it changes the ratio of engine rotations to wheel rotations. This transfers even more drive power to the wheels and the sprinter can push its way through slippery terrain. The 4ETS electronic traction control and the adaptive ESP give the powerhouse even more safety along with a built-in mobility guarantee.

The off-road specialist Oberaigner takes the idea even further. In addition to its specially designed off-road tyres and an even more powerful gear reduction, the Sprinter 4×4 is also equipped with mechanically activated longitudinal and lateral differential locks. In doing so, the Austrian company expands the Sprinter’s range of applications to new regions. The conversion is available for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×2 or Sprinter 4×4. Regardless of which model is chosen, eventually everyone falls in love with the all-wheel drive power of their Sprinter.
